Been following an AI sitcom project closely. One thing that surprised me is how differently the script had to be written compared to normal production.
The usual screenwriting shorthand breaks down completely — "he reacts," "she takes a beat," "they share a look" — none of that works when there's no human performer interpreting it. Apparently everything has to be extremely specific: exact physical movements, precise facial expressions, exact timing of pauses. Because the AI has no creative interpretation layer.
It's essentially writing prompts disguised as stage directions. Which made me wonder whether good screenwriting and good prompt engineering are converging into the same skill, or whether they're fundamentally different disciplines that just happen to look similar right now.
Curious if anyone who's worked on AI video production has found the same thing.
