I've seen a lot of arguing on Reddit about AI, and a portion is dedicated to this seemingly easily disprovable claim.
I see people claim that AI can't do any actual work and that anyone who uses it is brain-dead. I just don't understand how people can claim that if they look at current frontier models.
Codex surpassed 25 million active users. Is that not a sign that AI is useful to some capacity? It's crazy that people think they know better than figures like Terence Tao and Linus Torvalds.
AI (or "Gen" AI, as some people call it) is useful. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that. I feel like some are still stuck in the 2022 mindset where models couldn't tell you how many Rs are in strawberry.
