Who believes AI will destroy mankind within the next 2 years? And if so, how? My six-year-old son confessed to me yesterday that he was terrified that AI would attempt to burn down our house or do something equally malicious. I tried hard not to laugh. But then I got to thinking; crap maybe he's right. Not about burning down the house but artificial intelligence possible destroying the electrical grid, collapsing the financial system or creating a bioengineered virus then wiping out mankind. When I was a child (GenX) we worried about nuclear war with Russia, AID's and racial violence. I know practically nothing about technology. If my iPhone has a problem, I take it to the store and get it fixed. How do you disseminate between a genuine threat from modern technology and media hype?
