I've been thinking about this a lot lately and can't find a clean answer anywhere.
Most people I know are running at least 3-4 different AI tools. Claude for writing and reasoning, Cursor or Copilot for code, ChatGPT for whatever, maybe Perplexity for research. Each one has its own memory, its own context, none of them talk to each other.
So every time you switch tools you're basically starting from scratch. Re-explaining who you are, what you're working on, what decisions you've already made. I feel like I'm hiring a new contractor every day and spending the first hour onboarding them.
Curious what other people actually do in practice. Do you just accept the context loss or have you found something that actually works across tools?
