I've been having some thoughts on this topic because each country is trying to gain in advantage but the 2 real main competitors is being US and China. But I'm having a hard time seeing why having a small advantage over the other is a good thing when they're can be many disadvantages as we all know that AGI can also be a double edged sword. The US is pushing forward the most even though we are already starting to see some consequences via layoffs due to the technology. And this is just one of those unintended effects now imagine effects that we haven't even begin to think off happening. If it's military AI then it can still be also very unpredictable.
