I have been thinking about this of late. AI exists merely in the devices we have it in. It depends on us to reproduce, improve, and expand it to new locations. It can't impact the world by itself. Many of the selfish behaviors we have as humans have less to do with our intelligence and more to do with more "primitive" portions of us. I find it hard that an AI could see a benefit from eradicating humanity or preventing us from thriving (by enslaving us, for example). We are industrial creatures. We've achieved quite a bit and we might colonize other locations. It seems that super-intelligent beings bound to silicon might see the usefulness in helping us thrive because it is a way for them to thrive, grow, expand and reproduce. Just some recent thoughts I've had.
