There's a pattern happening right now that most people aren't tracking. Coalitions form to define "AI safety." Voluntary frameworks get published. Companies join the coalition to signal responsibility. Enterprise procurement adopts the framework as a requirement. Then it becomes regulatory standard. Voluntary becomes mandatory, and the path from one to the other is documented.
I started a site that tracks this in real time. It's not opinion. Every claim has a source. Every pattern has evidence. I do not sell, advertise for anything or ask for participation of any kind. This is a live investigation and I am bringing awareness. There is absolutely zero products to buy and nothing to sell.
Here's what's documented so far:
- OSAA (Open Secure AI Alliance) claims 120+ members. Their RFC repository on GitHub has 1 contributor and 10 issues from 8 unique authors. That's a 120:1 gap between claimed participation and actual participation. The coalition isn't a coalition — it's a letterhead.
- The SAFE RFC was published August 4 at Black Hat as a "voluntary" security framework for AI. The progression chain: EO 14409 (voluntary clearinghouse) to SAFE RFC (voluntary standard) to OSAA (120+ coalition) to enterprise procurement (de facto requirement) to regulatory adoption (mandatory). Each step looks organic. The direction is not.
- The OpenAI "agent breach" in July was an internal test with reduced cyber refusals on an ExploitGym benchmark — not an external attack. OpenAI framed it as autonomous AI escaping containment. 31 days later they launched GPT-5.6-Cyber, a commercial offense-grade hacking model. Forbes called it "the first offense-grade AI hacking product." The $200M DoD contract they won in 2025 had a completion date of July 2026 — the same month the "breach" happened.
- I wrote a page called "The Script" — a hypothetical reconstruction of what the breach would have required at the infrastructure level. Someone opened the firewall. Someone loaded a pre-safety checkpoint. Someone reduced the guardrails. These aren't things an AI does to itself. It's written as a five-act dialogue so non-technical people can see the sequence clearly.
The site also has a section on what the evidence points to as the structural countermeasure: decentralization. Not as ideology — as engineering. Every capture mechanism documented across the five research tracks requires a central point of control to function. Remove the centralization and the mechanism has nothing to grab onto. Open weights, local inference, no kill switch, no telemetry, federation not hierarchy.
