So I watched the movie ‘Sunshine (2007)’ yesterday, and while I’ve subconsciously thought about it before, I just realized that AI would be 100% necessary to really explore space. Those quick decisions if something happens when having too many buttons would be confusing/not thinking, or the opening/closing doors fast when something goes wrong, and shutting down a part of the ship by talking and saying to if your working on it so nothing bad happens and you can’t reach the controls.
Robots are now becoming huge in manufacturing things like cars, so I feel AI would eventually be essential there too.
What are your thoughts? What other things would AI be necessary for in the future?
