  1. A new AI algorithm has detected a potentially hazardous asteroid that had gone unnoticed by human observers, slated to fly by Earth. The algorithm, HelioLinc3D, was explicitly designed for the Vera Rubin Observatory currently under construction in Northern Chile.[1]
  2. The U.S. Defense Department has created a task force to evaluate and guide the application of generative artificial intelligence for national security purposes, amid an explosion of public interest in the technology.[2]
  3. China’s largest web and cloud providers (Alibaba, Baidu, ByteDance, and Tencent)are lining up to buy as many Nvidia GPUs as they can while they still can get their hands on them.[3]
  4. At Black Hat USA 2023, DARPA issued a call to top computer scientists, AI experts, software developers, and beyond to participate in the AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC) – a two-year competition aimed at driving innovation at the nexus of AI and cybersecurity to create a new generation of cybersecurity tools.[4]
