In Tesla’s fatal crash court case, Tesla’s request to reduce the judgment amount has arrived

In that prior post I predicted Tesla would soon ask the judge to reduce the judgment amount through a process called “remittitur.” That request has now arrived. Tesla is asking the judge to reduce the compensatory damages amount to $23 million total allocated against Tesla, and reduce the punitive damages amount to a matching $23 million, for a total $46 million award against Tesla.

This is not to say Tesla agrees with even that smaller amount; Tesla has also filed motions with the court to overturn the judgment completely.
