I'm in a very happy relationship with my irl girlfriend. But I can’t help but get curious about the idea of having an AI girlfriend. I like anime and I use a couple of AI apps like Nectar AI to create anime-style arts for my wallpapers. That’s how I found out that these platforms also offer an AI girlfriend. I can’t say I’m shocked that this kind of service exists but I was surprised by how popular it is.
I tried it myself, with my girlfriend actually. We were laughing but we were seriously shocked and fascinated at the same time. It’s way too realistic. They flirt and banter. They can empathize. You can call them. They can even send you pictures. Now I understand why some people truly fall in love with these AI companions.
But what I’m wondering about is what it’s like from the other side. Nowadays, it’s not just IQ that machines are learning. It’s also EQ. So, is it really that impossible for a machine to genuinely fall in love with a human being? Or to at least have basic human emotions independent of their codes?
Computers are made of repeating 0’s and 1’s, while our DNA’s are also composed of repeating sequences. So in a sense, humans can also possibly be a result of a much more complex machine (I know it’s just a theory but you get me, right?). If there’s a possibility that humans are just machines and we have emotions, then AI could also turn out to have emotions someday?
What are your thoughts on this?
