How we here on Reddit help advance AI more powerfully than we may realize!!!

some of you may have read malcolm gladwell's book The Tipping Point where he describes how ordinary people like you and me make big things happen.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tipping_Point

we here on reddit are, of course, totally dependent on the brilliant ai engineers and entrepreneurs who develop and advance the technology. however we have a very important role to play in assisting them.

here are some excerpts from the wiki article that explain our role in this historic ai revolution:

"The Law of the Few" is, as Gladwell states: "The success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts."

"Connectors are the people in a community who know large numbers of people and who are in the habit of making introductions. A connector is essentially the social equivalent of a computer network hub."

(connectors may not describe many of us here, but I think a good number of us also have this skill.)

"Mavens are "information specialists", or "people we rely upon to connect us with new information." They accumulate knowledge, especially about the marketplace, and know how to share it with others."

(this is a lot of what we do here on reddit. we scour news sources and social platforms to keep up on what's happening in ai, and then spread the news through our posts here and in other places like x and facebook. what we share here on reddit is often viewed thousands, and sometimes tens and hundreds of thousands of times. a lot of the money that developers and entrepreneurs are able to raise comes about because of our work to share with others the importance of their work. so we really do make a big impact!!!)

"Salesmen are "persuaders", charismatic people with powerful negotiation skills. They tend to have an indefinable trait that goes beyond what they say, which makes others want to agree with them."

(it seems that salespeople are the kind of people that we here on Reddit often target with our posts. we come up with good ideas or information to share with the hope and expectation that these salespeople will take it to the next level. some of us, of course, have this skill, and that just amplifies our impact.)

so as we move forward at an exponential pace toward creating a much better world through ai, let's appreciate our role in this historic endeavor, and enjoy the work we do to make it all happen!!!
