Hi Everyone. Given recent news and a background in computer engineering, I am considering the best ways that I can use what little knowlege I have to affect the outcome of this tech revolution we are going through.
I am interested in cybersecurity and AI but have virtually no background in them. What would be the fastest way to break into that area?
One idea I had was to join the US military. I am not great at self-motivation and I think the strict rules would help me get more done in less time. The downside is that I would really want a desk job and something that would focus on defensive rather than offensive measures. If I was made to become boots on the ground I don’t think I’d be able to do it for personal belief reasons. Also dont know if I would be able to meet requirements to get to the place I want to get.
The other option is to keep doing my current job 40hrs/week and try to squeeze in enough learning in my free time to make significant progress within a year or so. Basically throw away my personal life.
Sorry if this is off-topic but thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to respond, or if you want to just leave an insult that’s cool too.
