I am not a teacher, I am a developer. But I was always curious how much AI can really help in learning, not just give answers.
Recently I did an experiment: I trained my LLM model to explain mathematics in different styles from dry formulas to metaphors and even stories. For example, integrals can be explained through the area under a road for toy cars, or through classical definitions.
I gave several friends (non-specialists) the task to understand a topic they hated in school. AI explained until the person said - now I understand. The result surprised me, in 3 out of 5 cases people really felt that for the first time they understood a topic that once was completely dark.
And now I am thinking if this is the future, when every student will have their own personal AI-mentor who knows exactly how to explain things to them.
Have any of you tried something similar? Can AI really become an effective teacher, or is the human factor still irreplaceable here?
