In the United States growing up classes were at least half full from 1st grade onward, no one wanted to be there, especially not the teachers. The dry curriculum was one size fits all, the classes were all formulaic; take notes, read, quiz, cram, test, forget. Rinse and repeat. Class after class, year after year, and no one remembers any of it later in life. What a waste of time.
Does AI have enough access to data regarding education that it can guide humanity toward a more efficient system? I don't mean efficient in the punishing sense (aka China) I mean efficient in the least amount of time necessary to attain even better results. 99% of my education was a massive waste of time and I know others feel the same.
How much more nuanced does it have to be before it can be implemented, at least online, to fast-track children to the same education as their peers in a fraction of the time?
To expand on this, please consider that different educational methods lead to completely different thinking abilities; William James Sidis may have been the most intelligent (and lonely) person who's ever lived. He was homeschooled by his (genius in their own right) parents who wouldn't allow the outside world to teach him how to think. They either taught him in their way, or insisted that he tech himself, giving him the tools to problem solve in a way most adults today can't. Research this man if you haven't heard of him. Then imagine how drastically different education could be if we put AI in charge of education.
