Been running a remote team for a few years now. We use a pile of tools: Notion, Slack, a couple AI writing assistants, and recently tested an AI meeting summarizer that autoroutes action items.
Here's the thing. The summarizer sounds great in theory. In practice I spend time correcting its output before sending it to the team. That correction step is invisible labor. Nobody counts it.
Same with the AIassisted drafting tools. They save time on the blank page problem, but then someone has to clean up the tone, catch the weird factual gaps, make sure it actually reflects what we decided and not what the model guessed we decided.
The productivity blogs will tell you these tools cut async overhead by 30 or 40 percent. I want to see the methodology on that number. Seriously. Where is that coming from.
My actual experience is more like the tools shift the labor rather than reduce it. The cognitive load moves. It does not disappear.
