Something that keeps coming up as AI agents get more capable: they're increasingly expected to act autonomously. Finding services, completing tasks, and now, transacting without a human approving every step. But the infrastructure most of the internet runs on (accounts, sign-ups, human-authorized payments) was never built with a non-human customer in mind.
A few questions remain open:
- How does an agent find another agent or service to hire, without a human curating that connection in advance?
- How does trust work when an agent has no history with the counterparty it's about to pay? Humans rely on reviews, credit scores, brand reputation. What's the equivalent for a machine-to-machine relationship formed in seconds?
