We find ourselves in a changing world where norms, beliefs and dogma are used to provide a sense of grounding. But, the reasoning that’s used to make us internalise all the shifts and shakes of the modern world is the same reasoning that’s causing us to not handle the shifts. Steve Jobs was a resilient individual, one in a million that believed that we need to shape our existence around our dreams. Presented with compromise; the basic and most simplistic philosophies inevitably will survive. Living without a “vision” does not mean that you live without a purpose that is deeply grounded in a sharing and collaborative mindset. Understanding where you fit and what the ecosystem looks like where you find yourself is much more powerful than trying to shape a highly dominant tyrant based style.
Bringing life’s multiple dimensions into a singular focus is almost impossible for most. Losing a business, dealing with illness, and setbacks that test even the strongest; push us to a level of resilience that shapes who we are. I have a deep interest in architecture and one dimension of life is the dwelling we decide to occupy during our short time here. Essentially we move from dwelling to dwelling; one where you frequent space with your family, and another with your professional or work colleagues. Apple decided to shape an entirely new way of living with their new office park. Check this story on their new intended head office. A space where meaning is expressed in many ways.
Thank you Steve Jobs for the inspiration and leadership that will live on in many, many minds…
