A fixed evaluator can still become the target of an agent loop

Fixing an evaluator before an agent starts iterating prevents the goalposts from moving. It does not stop the agent process from adapting to feedback it can repeatedly see.

The AQuA preprint makes that distinction explicit. Its base language model and evaluator stay fixed. Validated observations are retained in a part-specific research state, and later proposals are conditioned on that evidence.

Validation feedback is visible during this loop. A separate final test is withheld until the configuration is frozen; its result is not returned to the agent or used to rank candidates. That creates a useful final check, but the isolation is procedural rather than cryptographic, and repeated adaptation to visible validation remains possible.

The AQuA design question I would inspect next is how much evaluator-specific feedback should enter durable state. Which defense matters most here: limiting that feedback, rotating the visible evaluation, or relying on one untouched final test after freeze?
